Case Study

Incident Management

About the Customer

The Customer is a large underground mining and engineering contracting company providing mine development and production services for clients throughout the world. They have a strong focus on safety and are committed to the goal of zero harm.

Customer Challenges

The Customer wanted simplicity, by reducing the number of safety solutions provided to them. Multiple vendors and solutions created undue administrative and change management overheads, making it impossible to provide an integrated experience for their users.

The Customer recognised that a proven, robust system was required to achieve zero fatalities and zero serious injuries in a global organization that operates in many different countries with vastly different cultures.

Forwood Solution

Having already implemented Forwood’s Critical Risk Management Solution (CRM+) successfully, the Customer was able to add Forwood’s Incident Management tool.

Incident Management now forms part of Forwood’s Safety+ Solution; a fully integrated solution comprising:

  • Incident Management
  • Critical Control Verifications
  • Workplace Inspections
  • Safety Conversations
  • Safety Meetings
  • Action management
  • Reporting and data analytics

By adopting the Forwood Incident Management tool, the Customer’s users were able to access and use the new solution in under six weeks.  The change management impact to the user was minimal because they already had a Forwood account and the user experience was very similar. It was a classic win-win that is on-going.

Outcomes Achieved

Simpler, more powerful analysis

The Customer has a digitalised solution. This decreases the investigation time due to workflows, which automate approvals, notifications and visibility of the event amongst internal and external stakeholders.

Inbuilt Risk Registers and 5 Whys improve the event analysis. All information is easily visible and communicated via the solution’s intuitive dashboards.

In particular, Forwood’s Incident Management tool is now used by their safety team to conduct analysis of high potential events, referencing the Critical Risks and Critical Controls in Forwood’s CRM+ to identify whether the controls were absent or failing and preventative or mitigating.  This allows for detailed leading and lagging analysis.

Incident Management has proven to be an easy to use tool and has achieved a high level of engagement by users. As a result, the Customer has chosen to implement other Forwood Ecosystem solutions to further improve their safety performance.

Forwood’s Incident Management solution successfully addressed the customer’s challenges, providing a seamless, integrated experience. The resulting efficiency gains and improved safety performance have positioned Forwood as a trusted partner in the client’s ongoing pursuit of excellence in safety and risk management.
